Over 5,000 visits to our site so far! |
|
| |
Even though there isn't enough interest in physical meetings for group meetings, the visits to this website are encouraging.
There have been over 5,000 visits so far, and over 1,200 emails offering encouragement to "keep things going" with the Pet Loss Support. At this time I haven't been able to respond to all the emails yet. I say "I," because no one else that I (John) know, can find the time yet to help out replying to the Emails.
To date, January 2013, there still hasn't been any more submittals of "Love Stories," but over time, I'm sure more stories will be sent.

Pet Loss; It's not just from death, but also for the following:
|
|
| |
When one hears of a Pet Loss happening to someone, it's probably safe to say that in most cases, he/she is grieving over the death of a pet. And yet, there are other concerning things that can happen to our pets that can be equally as devastating as a death, and in some cases, even more so.
For example, our pets might get out of an enclosed area that we put them in, and get hit by a car. Or, they might run away, and can't find their way back home. They could get stolen, or become sick from Cancer, poison, etc. All of these catastrophes can happen, and they certainly would be considered a Pet Loss.
This Website will be available for those who have witnessed such painful things.

Why this Website was started
|
|
| |
My name is John. On December 4th of 2011, my beloved dog died.
I won't give all the details right now because it's still so fresh in my mind. With each day that passes, I'm learning slowly but surely how to cope with it. When my dog died, I tried in vain to find a local grief group (Whatcom County and Skagit County).
It was hard to believe that no such kind of group existed. After confirming that it was indeed true, I decided to seek out others who were hurting for their pet losses too. Apparently several people started a pet-loss group awhile back, but attracted only a few people.
I found myself desperately needing to reach out and talk to others who suffered, or who were still suffering like me, and who could perhaps give me some advice on how they worked through their hurts. After some serious thought, I decided that something should be done about the lack of support, so I "grabbed the bull by the horns" so to speak, and acquired a domain name, registered the name of "wemissourpets.com," and in turn, started this Website.
Over the last couple of months, I have connected with several people who are either going through Pet-Loss grief now, or who have gone through such grief before, and who would love to help others through the grief of losing one's pet. I'm sure going through such an ordeal, sometimes seems like pure hell on earth.
This website is free. No one pays a cent. It's a "Labor of love."
